Why Some People Do Not Get What They Think They Want

Most people do not get what they think they want because they don't know what they want. Their actions are at variance with their words. They tell you they want one thing, but their actions suggest the contrary. That means they don't know what they want.
Those who get what they want are those who know what they want and also know how to get it. They are ready to do all it takes to get it, even at the expense of their personal comfort and likes. They are conscious of actions that take them closer to their goals as well as those that do not. They are disciplined. They match their words with necessary actions. If they nurse a particular idea of what they think they want, but do not know how to get it, they try to find out, they make research, they seek knowledge until they know what it takes to achieve it and they go ahead and achieve it. So it takes knowledge and discipline to get what what you want. Sadly this is the price that many are not ready to pay.
Some people do not like to acquire knowledge, so they can not get what they think they want. They tell you they want one thing, but their actions suggest another. If you tell them what their actions suggest they want, they'll be shocked.
So for you to achieve what you want, you must know what you want and how to achieve it. This entails having a goal and working diligently toward it. It entails being conscious of those things that support your goal and those that do not. Therefore, if you know what you really want, you'll find out and do all it takes to get it. But if you don't know what you want, you'll be moving round a circle to no particular destination. Hence, you can not achieve what you think you want.
